TAMPA, Fla. – University of Tampa men's lacrosse head coach Rory Whipple has announced Kevin Reisman as the new assistant coach for the Spartans program.
Before coming to Tampa, Reisman was a volunteer assistant coach at Cornell University during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. During his two years with the program, he helped Paul Rasimowicz move into fifth place in Cornell history for career face-off wins. He also helped Rasimowicz earn honorable mention All-Ivy league in 2018.
Before coaching, Reisman had a decorated playing career at Limestone College. While at Limestone, Reisman was a two-time Division II Player of the Year winner and was a four-time All-American. In 2017, he was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Division II National Championship game, as he went 17-24 in faceoffs and picked up 14 groundballs in an 11-9 victory over No. 4 Merrimack.
Reisman holds the NCAA Division II single-season record for faceoff winning percentage (.748 in 2016), the NCAA DII single-season record for ground balls per game (11.45 in 2016), and the DII record for the fastest goal to start a game (:05 vs. North Greenville 3/23/16). In his career, Reisman won more than 1,300 face-offs, posted a .735 face-off winning percentage, and picked up more than 900 ground balls.
He received several collegiate honors, including being a two-time USILA Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award winner as Most Outstanding Division II Lacrosse Player (2015, 2017). He was also a two-time USILA Specialty Player of the Year (2015, 2016), four-time USILA All-American (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), four-time All-Conference Carolinas First-Team (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year (2017), Conference Carolinas Male Athlete of the Year (2015) and the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year (2014). Reisman also excelled on the national stage as the NCAA Division II National Championship Game Most Outstanding Player (2017). A three-time Conference Carolinas Tournament Most Outstanding Player (2015, 2016, 2017), he was also a two-time Tewarraton Award Watch List (2016, 2017) selection and ECAC Division II Men's Lacrosse All-Star Team (2015).
Reisman played professional lacrosse, beginning with the Ohio Machine in the Major League lacrosse. He also played for the Boston Cannons during the 2019 season.
